Exploring Airmail Tour

Upper Elementary Through Adult Groups

Our Exploring Airmail Tour focuses on the important figures and flights involved during the start of the Postal Service airmail deliveries from 1918 to 1921. The Museum provides a unique and special outlook on this time period as the College Park Airport was the site of the first airmail delivery. Visitors will have the chance to explore the history of airmail while examining planes, artifacts, and primary source documents in the museum. Groups will also see the practical application of the technologies and navigational aids important to the pilots while participating in hands-on activities.

For interested groups, this tour and packet provide activities that align with Common Core and STEM standards.
