M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is committed to helping residents get up & get fit by offering a variety of free sports and fitness programs this May! Increasing activity levels can improve fitness and reduce stress and risk for chronic diseases. Whether you are looking for a consistent activity to fit into your daily routine or just want to explore a local park, we’ve got you covered! We have opportunities for all residents to participate with both in-person and virtual options. Let’s all seek to be more active together, as we Live More, Play More!
Our “live more, play more” philosophy is for all ages. The Department seeks to connect you and your whole family to fun and quality life-enriching sports and fitness opportunities year-round. If you’re looking for your new favorite fitness activity to help you get up & get fit, look no further! Indoor cycling, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), yoga, parkour, and so much more are at the tip of your fingers this month. Fitness Center Open Houses
Looking for a fitness center to call home? Check out which facilities are welcoming you in to try a program or use their facility during the month of May. Find the center that’s closest to you and join in on a demo or an open court! Our fitness center professionals will show you the ropes and answer any questions you may have.
Health Education & Nutrition
Engage in fun, interactive activities to learn how to make healthier choices for you and your family! Learn everyday tips for healthy meal choices, discuss the latest updates in various health and nutrition topics, and discuss how to make simple changes to benefit your overall mental and physical health.
Explore the parks and natural areas of Prince George’s County this May! Participate in a hike, bike ride, wetlands tour, or a day of bird watching. Enjoy new scenery and activities while reaping the benefits of exercising in nature.
Come out and explore all the activities designed for the active aging community. Show off your rhythm at Zumba or Hawaiian Line Dancing, or join us virtually for Exercise with Ease. Increase your step count on Monday mornings with Club 300! From the trails to the dance floor, we have activities to suit everyone’s lifestyle.
Get up & get fit by participating in fun and rewarding sports activities. Youth of all ages are welcome to join us for a variety of sports clinics and competitions which include softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, basketball, football, futsal, and pickleball, Participants will be introduced to the core skills of each sport from our professional instructors and learn more about future programs.
Water Fitness & Activities
Make a splash this May when you attend a water fitness class at one of our many aquatic facilities. Learn the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies with our water safety offerings.
