Maryland-National Capital Park Police Surprise Local Family with Annual Secret Santa Giveaway


Riverdale, MD - The Maryland – National Capital Park Police, a division of the Department of Parks and Recreation, will be surprising a local family for the holidays with gifts for the entire family.

WHAT: M-NC Park Police, Prince George’s County Division, play Secret Santa for local family 

WHEN: Friday, December 21 at 6 PM (Need media to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for staging at Kenmoor Middle School parking lot, 2500 Kenmoor Drive Landover, Maryland 20785)

WHERE: Copper Canyon Grill, Woodmore Town Centre at 9300 Taj Ln, 20, Lanham, MD 20706

Presentation: Family will be treated to dinner at the Copper Canyon Grill in Lanham… Park Police will arrive at ~6 p.m. to SURPRISE them with Secret Santa gift presentation. There will be a festive motorcade complete with 10 police motorcycles, 15 police cars, and two Fire trucks with SANTA on TOP!

Officers from the M-NC Park Police, Prince George’s County Division, with donations from the entire police force have raised money to provide gifts for the Sandifer family. Kevin Sandifer is a sixth grader at Kenmoor Middle School. He is an excellent student who has a great personality. Kevin was very close to his dad, always sharing stories about how much fun he had with him.

It was important to make this holiday special for the Sandifer family because in late October/early November Mr. Sandifer passed away after a long battle with illness. Their father raised Kevin and his two sisters. The oldest sister moved back home when dad’s health started failing. She is now taking care of Kevin and the youngest sister but struggle financially.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division consists of sworn personnel, civilian employees and volunteers. Title 17, Subtitle 3, Land Use Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland provides the authority to enforce Maryland laws and local ordinances, as well as the rules and regulations specific to The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). The Maryland-National Capital Park Police are tasked with protecting more than 28,000 acres of park property in Prince George’s County, as well as those who visit and staff M-NCPPC sites.
