Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission to Waive Fees for Furloughed Employees:
Child Care Fees to be Waived During Government Shutdown
Riverdale, MD - The Maryland – National Capital Parks and Planning Commission will be waiving fees for furloughed employees affected by the on-going government shutdown.
Effective January 12, 2019, child care before and after fees for furloughed residents will be waived during the time of the shutdown. In addition, facilities will be waiving the requirement for membership fees to use the fitness rooms. The details of the waived fees are:
- A Furlough Membership for the Fitness Rooms Only at all Community Centers, Sports and Learning Complex, Fairland, and Allentown for any furloughed worker.
- Waiving before & after child care fees for Community Centers and Therapeutic Recreation including Pre-School, Leisure Skills Development, Leisure & Life Skills, Kids Care, Morning Care, Kids Club, Extended Care, and Kids Day Out for any dependent of furloughed worker.
- This is for Prince George’s County residents only.
- An official furlough letter must accompany the request.
“The Commission is always eager and proud to serve our community, providing services that will benefit the mind, body, and soul,” said Elizabeth Hewlett, Chairman of the Prince George’s County Planning Board. “It is our mission to not only be here to provide leisure activities, but also support our community in good times and in times of need.”
Prince George’s County will also be setting up a website that provides links to all the resources that will be available to furloughed employees.
