IYANA MOORE - 301-446-3313; Iyana.Moore@pgparks.comRiverdale, MD - The Maryland – National Capital Park and Planning Commission Park Rangers will be hosting a benefit race to contribute to conservation projects and research aimed at preserving the Patuxent River’s natural wildlife.
Together, The Maryland – National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Patuxent River Park and The Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary comprise over 3,500 acres along the banks of the Patuxent River. The river and its shores are home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Proceeds from the run and walk directly support projects, research, and education in the Patuxent River watershed.
WHAT: Jug Bay Run for Wildlife
WHEN: Saturday, November 2 at 9 AM (Race day registration will be available starting at 7:30 AM)

The Department of Parks and Recreation encourages runners and walkers of all abilities, ages, and skill levels to come together, enjoy the outdoors and be active in our natural park settings. The mostly flat, paved, and dirt road course for the race leads runners along the banks of the river, with water stations located along the way. Participants have the choice to compete on three levels:
Early registration fee is $30 for all 10K runners, $25 for all 5K runners, and $20 for all 3K walkers. Online registration through PARKS DIRECT closes at 5 PM, October 31. Participants can also register by mail. (Please do not mail entry forms after October 24.) Make checks payable to M-NCPPC. Mail checks and registration form to:
