2019 Denim Collection Drive for the Homeless
RIVERDALE, MD – Help bring awareness to hunger and homelessness by collecting clean, gently worn denim jeans of all sizes. Over a million young people experience homelessness in the US every year and the one item most often requested is a pair of jeans. With the holidays coming, local families have a chance to embrace the spirit of the giving season and provide an essential clothing item for those in need.
From now through Thursday, November 14, residents are encouraged to donate clean, gently worn jeans of all sizes to any Department of Parks and Recreation community center. This year, we have created a friendly competition as an extra incentive and the facility with the most donated denim will win bragging rights! Donated jeans will be given to service organizations and shelters throughout the area.
A competitive donation drive-thru for Community Groups and individuals will also take place at Bladensburg Waterfront Park. Groups that collect and donate the most pairs of jeans will be announced via Department of Parks and Recreation social media and receive awards!
