Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Riverdale, MD – ¡Venga! Celebrate local Hispanic culture this month with the Department of Parks and Recreation! We have nearly 40 different events going on all across the county to inspire and educate patrons about the different Hispanic cultures that help make Prince George’s County a beautiful and diverse place to live.

WHAT: Single Elimination Futsal Tournament
WHEN: Saturday, September 9, 10 AM - 4 PM
WHERE:
Rollingcrest-Chillum Community Center 6120 Sargent Rd., Chillum, MD. 20782
COST: 
FREE for kids ages 8-12
Kids ages 8-12 are welcome to join us for a fun day of futsal. This tournament will field a maximum of eight teams with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors will be on site selling food & drinks. Medals will be awarded to winners at the Hispanic Festival on September 17.

Learn basic techniques for painting with acrylics as we pay tribute to renowned Mexican painter, María Izquierdo.

Bring the family and celebrate the rich heritage of our Hispanic communities. Enjoy carnival games, pony rides, music, entertainment, exhibitors, craft vendors, delicious ethnic food, and more! There will be FREE shuttle rides from Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School in Langley Park and Rosa Parks Elementary School in Hyattsville. Shuttle rides begin at 11:30 am and leave every 30 minutes.

Enjoy the music of Argentina led by bandoneonist Emmanuel Trifilio and featuring Devree Lewis on cello, and Ramon Gonzalez on guitar. They present a fresh perspective on the Argentinean music genre with their repertoire almost entirely comprised of Sr. Trifilio’s original tango pieces. The group performs in many environments from their weekly appearances at D.C.’s Rumba Cafe to providing live music for local milongas (tango dances.)
