Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County Publick Playhouse Announces the 2026-2027 Season!

CHEVERLY, Md. – The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission has announced the 2026-27 season at Prince George’s Publick Playhouse. Running from September 2026 through June 2027, the season will feature nationally recognized artists, family-friendly performances, educational programs and cultural events designed to engage audiences of all ages,

Featured performances this season include Adrian Dunn & the Adrian Dunn Singers, a world premiere from Dissonance Dance Theatre, The Nutcracker, The String Queens, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Keith Washington, and much more.

Tickets are available now. Publick Playhouse also offers theater classes, art exhibitions, and summer camps. Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Celebración
This family-friendly event will include artwork from Catherine Rupan Mapp, the unveiling of the 2026 Hispanic Heritage Month poster, live music from Pablo Antonio y La Firma and DJ Chris Styles, dance demonstrations and lessons from Salsa with Sylvia, arts and crafts for children, and light refreshments. For all ages. FREE!

Tuesday-Thursday, Sep. 15-17, 2-3 pm
Active Aging Week: African Dance Class
Celebrate Active Aging Week with Fritete Ensemble and learn traditional dances, chants, and rhythms from the Mother Continent. The class consists of moderate stretching, cardio, and crafted African movements. For ages 60 and older. Cost: $5 per person.

Saturday, Sep. 26, 7:30 pm
IZIS la Enfermera de la Salsa
Known for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, IZIS blends classic salsa with contemporary energy to create a joyful, dance-filled experience. For all ages. Tickets: $20-$25 per person.

Saturday, Oct. 10, 7 pm & Sunday, Oct. 11, 4 pm
Through the Dark, the Light Beckons
A powerful evening of movement and meaning rooted in the African American experience from Dissonance Dance Theatre. For all ages. Tickets: $20-$25 per person.

Around the World

Celebrate world cultures and folktales from all around the globe with this fun, high-energy show from Bright Star Touring Theatre. For families and children ages 3-12. Tickets: $6-$8 per person.

Blending classical, spirituals, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary music, Dunn creates powerful works that center Black identity, social justice, and spiritual reflection, transforming the theatre into a space of both reverence and urgency. For all ages. Tickets: $30-$35 per person.
