Local Color: Natural Dye and Textile Art in Hyattsville, MD highlights the collaborative work of Bonnie Magness-Gardiner, Cynthia Gossage, and Margaret Molinari. Working together over multiple summers in a backyard studio, the artists explore natural dyes sourced from local gardens and beyond, including mullein, marigold, black-eyed susan, walnut, indigo, madder, and cutch. Using a range of resist, printing, and overprinting techniques, they create patterned textile art for functional and decorative use. Each piece reflects an individual artistic voice shaped by both the materials and the collaborative studio process.
