Cheerleading
The Department of Parks and Recreation offers many opportunities to learn and compete in cheerleading. Introduce your child to the sport, compete on one of our recreational teams, or attend a fun-filled Summer Day Camp.
Instruction
Classes are offered for children from ages 5 to 17 at some of our community center facilities. Certified instructors lead lessons to teach the skills necessary to learn the sport. Here are the classes we have to offer:
Cheerleading: Mixed Ages. These classes are designed to teach the skills that include basic jumps and tumbling from the sport of cheerleading. Students will develop self-confidence, flexibility, strength, and feel motivated. Classes have historically been held at these sites:

Competition
The Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club Cheerleading Competition. The Department of Parks and Recreation supports this program. The annual competition is held in November. Youth sports clubs are located all throughout the county.
The competition is set-up for even number age groups (i.e. 6u, 8u, 10u, 12u & 14u). Competition age is based on your child’s age as of July 31 of the current year.

Summer Day Camp
The Department of Parks & Recreation offers Cheerleading Summer Day Camps. These 2-week camp sessions offer great opportunities to learn the basic skills in cheerleading. Campers will learn cheer routines, chants, and a positive team attitude. Camp sessions cost ranges from $260-$300 for residents. Sessions are usually held from 9 am until 4:30p with before and aftercare available. Camps have traditionally been held at the following facilities:
