“Picture this...”: A Look at the Science Behind Photography

Celebrate World Photography Day on August 19 by learning about the history of photography. Documents and photos tell a story and help historians create a picture of the past. Participants will create a cool work of sun art which demonstrates the fundamentals of photography using found items on-site. Advanced registration required with Parks Direct.

Enjoy a short story and craft in the gallery. These programs are designed for younger learners 5 & under. THIS MONTH: Come listen to a reading of Mae Among the Stars, by Roda Ahmed and immerse yourself in this inspiring story about following your dreams with hard work and determination. Learners will then be able to craft their own tissue paper Earth inspired by the book’s beautiful illustrations by Stasia Burrington. Registration is not required and drop-ins are welcome.

Children's Hour with Yoruba Language

Dr. Taiye Ayoola-Adedeji is the author of the interactive bilingual (English and Yoruba) book The Yoruba Sound Book for Children. She will engage children in fun cultural activities include music and play about the Yoruba people and culture. She engages children in using Yoruba words for colors, animals, foods, greetings, and seasons. Recommended for ages 4-12 with an accompanying adult. All ages under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
